Privacy Policy

InstantSubtitles (“the app”) is sold by Petralian / Nathan Petralian (“we”, “us”) at instantsubtitles.cc. This policy explains what the desktop app and website do with information.
Summary
- Your videos and transcripts stay on your computer during normal editing and local Whisper transcription.
- We do not run a cloud transcription service for your footage.
- The app may contact our servers for optional update checks and license activation when you enter a license key.
- The marketing site does not use third-party advertising trackers in these static pages.
Data on your device
The app stores locally, as needed for operation:
- Video and project paths you open or save
- Subtitle cues, styles, and export settings in project files
- Downloaded Whisper models and optional GPU runtime binaries
- License status, trial usage counters, and app preferences
- Recovery/autosave data so you can restore after a crash
You control where models live (default: Windows Local App Data). We recommend avoiding cloud-synced folders for large model files.
Network connections from the app
- Update check — fetches version metadata from instantsubtitles.cc (no video content).
- License activation — sends your license key and a machine identifier to our activation API to enforce seat limits (see Terms).
- Model & font downloads — when you choose to download, the app fetches files from configured mirrors (e.g. Hugging Face or regional mirrors you select in the UI).
- Google Fonts — when you pick a web font, the app may download font files for preview and burn-in.
We do not sell personal data from these flows.
Website & payments
Purchases are processed by PayPal on PayPal’s site. We receive what PayPal provides (e.g. transaction ID, payer email) to fulfill license keys. Email us at nathan@petralian.com for license delivery and support.
Standard web server logs (IP, user agent, requested URL) may be kept by our host for security and debugging.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
